About
Elizabeth

Elizabeth Haines writes mysteries and the occasional ghost story—tales where secrets linger, motives tangle, and even the dead have something left to say. Her work spans from sharp, character-driven cozy mysteries to comedic thrillers with a streak of mischief.

Her cozy mystery Shoots Like a Girl won the Hugh Holton Mentor Award for the best first fifty pages from the Midwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America. Her comedic thriller Run of Luck was a finalist for the Rocky Mountain Gold Coast Award in the thriller category.

A proud member of Mystery Writers of America and Vice President of Michigan Sisters in Crime, Elizabeth enjoys stories with strong characters, unexpected turns, and just enough humor to keep the darkness in check. Whether she’s writing about a small-town sleuth or a reluctant hero in over their head, her goal is always the same: to entertain, surprise, and leave readers wanting just one more chapter.

Elizabeth lives in Richland, Michigan, with her husband Steve and their cat Winnie, who runs the household with firm paws and zero remorse. When she’s not writing, she’s likely reading, piecing together quilts, or tending a tomato garden that, despite her best efforts, refuses to thrive.

She reads over a hundred books a year, though her to-be-read pile continues to grow at a rate that suggests it's planning a structural collapse. If it ever topples, she worries her obituary will read: “She died because she didn’t read fast enough.”
